Our Commitment
Arnold Wender is committed to ensuring that this website is accessible to all users,
regardless of ability or technology. We believe the web should be open, inclusive, and
usable by everyone. Accessibility is not an afterthought in our work — it is a core
principle built into every design decision and line of code.
Standards & Conformance
This website aims to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
2.2 at Level AA. These guidelines are developed by the World Wide Web Consortium
(W3C) Web Accessibility Initiative (WAI) and define requirements for designers and
developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities.
We regularly test and audit our website against WCAG 2.2 AA success criteria to maintain
and improve accessibility. While we strive for full conformance, some content may not yet
fully meet all criteria. We are continuously working to address any gaps.
BFSG 2025 Readiness
The German Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) — the Accessibility Strengthening
Act — requires digital products and services to meet accessibility standards starting
June 28, 2025. This website is built with BFSG compliance in mind, incorporating
accessible design patterns and technical standards from the ground up.
As an accessibility-focused web developer, Arnold Wender also helps clients prepare
their own digital products for BFSG compliance.
Measures Taken
We take the following measures to ensure the accessibility of this website:
- Include accessibility as part of our development process from the start
- Use semantic HTML elements and ARIA attributes throughout
- Test with keyboard-only navigation and screen readers
- Validate color contrast ratios against WCAG requirements
- Ensure all interactive elements meet minimum touch target sizes
- Regularly audit pages using automated accessibility tools
- Respect user preferences for reduced motion
Accessibility Features
This website includes the following accessibility features:
All interactive elements (links, buttons, form fields, menus, accordions) are fully
operable using a keyboard alone. Skip-to-content links are provided on every page to
allow keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation.
We use semantic HTML elements (header, nav, main, footer, article, section) and ARIA
attributes where needed to ensure assistive technologies can accurately interpret and
navigate our content. All images include descriptive alt text.
Color contrast ratios meet or exceed WCAG 2.2 AA requirements (4.5:1 for normal text,
3:1 for large text). The website supports both light and dark color themes. No content
relies on color alone to convey meaning.
All interactive elements display visible focus indicators when navigated via keyboard.
Focus styles use high-contrast outlines that meet WCAG 2.4.7 requirements.
The website is fully responsive and works across all screen sizes. Content reflows
properly at up to 400% zoom without loss of information or functionality. Touch
targets meet the minimum 44x44px size requirement.
All animations and transitions respect the user's prefers-reduced-motion system
preference. When reduced motion is enabled, animations are disabled or minimized to
prevent discomfort for users with vestibular disorders.
Compatibility
This website is designed to be compatible with the following assistive technologies:
- Screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack)
- Voice recognition software (Dragon NaturallySpeaking)
- Screen magnification software
- Keyboard-only navigation
- Switch devices and alternative input methods
The website is tested in the latest versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. It
functions correctly with operating system accessibility settings including high contrast
mode, increased text size, and reduced motion.
